OpenIDEO Local Food Challenge concepts being brainstormed further at last week's spirited Ideas Festival in Brisbane.
We've been spanning continents and hemispheres this week – spreading our community goodness across the globe. First up we were in Brisbane, Queensland – Australia's Sunshine State – for the Ideas Festival. It was a blast sharing Local Food Challenge shortlisted concepts with folk from government and the private sector, farmers, community engagers and students. Participants in our workshops were amped at the innovative ideas and reveled in cross-disciplinary conversations over potential avenues to implementation. The challenge is about to switch to the Evaluation Phase so we hope you'll be swinging by to help us whittle down the shortlist to the hit-list.
Across oceans in California, our co-founder Nathan Waterhouse presented Perfect Match – A Social Media Love Story with Stanford's Jennifer Aaker at the STAN 11 conference. They outlined our Bone Marrow Donation Challenge – it's history, process and exciting road to realisation in the fight to kick cancer. Check the brilliant Swab Stories video from the team at 100K Cheeks to learn how you can do your part to make a cotton swab a hero!
Speaking of realisation – the OpenIDEO Team is keen to share stories of implementation and impact with you, because we all know this is a significant part of the pursuit of social good. So we're excited to announce the Realisation Phase which we'll be adding to challenges to let you in on how things evolve once all your clever concepts have been collected, applauded and evaluated. Like us, we think you're driven by making a positive impact – and this is the place where we'll be celebrating the translation of our community's stellar skills into real-world action and change.

BTW did you know NASA had a major design flow in a spider box it sent to space? I am not criticizing NASA, I live on their website, but the fruit flies covered the camera inside the box? Design 1.0 issues I guess.
Looking forward to more and more challenges.
