No ping = Alert ON ! (Update Nov 10)
The inspiration was: interruption-based security architecture.
The concept: Someone is detained. He was suppose to ping the system saying "I'm OK", but he can't. Because of this, a series of smart alarms are created.

This concept is based on a radio broadcast I heard, which detailed the utilization of radio in Colombia to allow family members to send messages over the air to reach their loved ones who have been kidnapped.

A mobile van to provide knowledge and advice, create connections and create (global) awareness on unlawful detentions. Because of its mobility, it will allow people in remote areas to access information and internet access.

Update: Decentralize the Network, Own and Protect Your Data
In order to fight against unlawful detention, it's important to make sure that the key data/resource (files, pictures, videos, contact lists, etc.) is owned and shared by the end-users. We need to decentralize the current network hierarchy.

"Help I'm Being Detained and I Can't Get Free"
A simple watch can be turned into a cry for help if one is about to be detained unlawfully. With just the press of a button on said watch a message will be sent to family and friends the person deemed important enough.

Sponsor a Spouse: Adding a face to Illegal Detainment - Updated 11/16
Create a campaign similar to "Sponsor a Child" where people can learn about spouses' individual stories and donate directly to them. By radically shifting the webpage from statistics to emotional stories, viewers will care and contribute.

The Detainee Support Net - Financial, Legal, Moral
A service that provides detainee support through micro-loans/gifts, a pro bono legal network, social network exposure, and moral support. This could be accomplished through detainee profile widgets incorporated into existing sites.

Something's wrong alert plan - PACT (Prepare, Act, Cooordinate and Communicate, Talk about it)
This concept allows those who suspect they're going to be targeted to pre-prepare a plan and then set their phones or a non-tech device, so if the worst happens they can just click once to alert friends and family
