The Better Place Model

Get a bucket, use a bucket, get a new bucket. What if people are rewarded with a clean, shiny, new-looking bucket each time they bring a full bucket to collection?

Who could implement this?

  1. Government
  2. I would!

Hi, I wonder whether you could make a mini dry-composting toilet out of a bucket. This may make it safer for transportation and less odorous - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Composting_toilet and as someone else pointed out on another post maybe a dabbawalla type system can come in handy.

It's an interesting concept, but I imagine that the transport of thousands of buckets "filled" might be very complicated, if we consider other logistic options. I think it would be more productive if the user empties his own bucket, in a collection point. Some adaptations in the design of the bucket allow this process to be safe for the user. But despite this, I think this system better than methods that use plastic bags. Not even the biodegradable bags are 100% environmentally friendly. Much energy is expended to produce them.

This is a model we've been thinking alot about. Are there ways to trade out in-home toilets or bases filled with waste for cleaning while ensuring a family always has access to the toilet within the home?
