How might we increase the availability of affordable learning tools & services for students in the developing world?
Concept
Graduate Research Enterprise
Graduate-level research on education is going on all the time in teacher training programs. Most of this work is never used for anything. Why not leverage this effort to address actual needs? This concept involves coordination between teacher credentialing programs/graduate-level Education programs and problems that have been identified and/or communities in need. Students performing research as part of their credentialing and degree programs would be matched up with problems in need of solving, and would conduct their research projects with the aim of informing those problems.Graduate Research Enterprise would lead to the development of a free knowledge base that could be used to inform the solution-generation process.
Who would implement this?
- A globally-based social entrepreneur
- NGOs and Foundations
Cost
There would be only minimal administrative costs.
Distribution & Delivery
G.R.E. would be publicized and propagated through principals, administrators, and teachers.
Adoption
G.R.E. could either be deployed as a website, or website with live staffing to liaise with users.
