Disused shipping containers as makeshift libraries

As an alternative to building conventional libraries disused shipping containers can be converted and used as cheap, easily transportable makeshift libraries and increase access to books for children.
Builds on Tom's idea of using an existing resource. The link below describes the idea in action in South Africa:

And why not even schools themselves? Chennai has an abundance of these containers that are being categorized as waste. Even high-end architects in Bangalore are starting to look to them as low-cost, temporary solutions to in-between infrastructure needs.

although used for something different... check out a project we did with TEAGUE last year involving shipping containers.
