How might we increase the number of registered bone marrow donors to help save more lives?

This concept combines with the Interactive map of registered donors. Please see http://3bl.me/az3ghz or click the colourful US map under 'Built on this' and give comment and feedback there. Convincing people to register as a donor is one thing, but then finding the right place near you is the next. This concept is to globally centralize location data for donor centers, national registries, donor drives and other information on a central site.
During the inspiration phase I was trying to figure out where my registration as a donor was located, and how I could actualize it in the country I live. In Europe, despite intensive cooperation, this information is hard to get in one single place. In many inspirations and concepts, the American registry is referred to. And there is a lot of information on that site. However, I think it would be good to have one single point of information that the different great campaigns that are springing up in several concepts can refer to.
Localization
An important part of this central point of information is the localization. Based on a map, people can see where the different registries and centers are located near them. Also it could be interesting to add upcoming donor drives on the map.
Another application of the localization, as suggested by Karen in the comments, could be to locate donor matches. Especially in cases where the needed type of cells are rare.
Criteria
Based on the chosen location, people could also find out the local/national criteria for becoming a donor. A FAQ like on bethematch.org would be great.
Central storage of donor data
Another helpful section would be a secured central registry, or at least a 'I moved to ...' function, so that it is as simple as clicking a few buttons to indicate that your donor data should be transferred to another database.
As we see now with the disaster in Japan, a centralized registry could also be helpful in cases of disaster, when possibly extra donors are needed because of the results of the radiation fall-out.
