Make the registry process easy, fast and accessible in everyday life, rather than having to go to www.marrow.org or a donation camp. I registered with bone marrow when I discovered that a colleague of mine was suffering from Leukemia. While I am a fairly informed user and went to the marrow.org website I found the entire process of filling out information for adding myself pretty time consuming. If we want to increase the number of donors, we need to make the process fast and easy. How about adding a choice to swab a cheek while shopping at Macys? You enter your information to shop anyway- so there must be a good way (API?) of using the same to add to the bone marrow registry. What about using the SSN to digitally submit your information to marrow.org? Instead of making the process more bureaucratic, the key is to introduce it into everyday life, such as while buying clothes, ordering food, etc. Marrow should tie up with the big retailers or showrooms to mail the swabs collected to Marrow registry thereby freeing the user up of having to do the posting work as well!
This could work especially well during holiday season when everyone is in a good mood and wants to help anyway!
