"Strategic Philantropy" and ethical local banking.

Some banks are running investment and philanthropy programs that aim to improve their communities. Provide tools and support to neighbourhood leaders. Bank of America has a Neighbourhood Builders program that can really inspire this challenge.
Banks are starting to learn a very important piece of the puzzle for their own survival. I cant say it better than this myself:
"The rationale was straight-forward: thriving neighborhood groups create more vibrant places to live and work, which translates into a better environment for lending and investing."

This inspiration builds on some of the others mentioned and adds the programs of bank of america and triodos-bank.
This is them:

(sorry for the spanish)
and

They aim to provide both money and leadership training, the focus is right and its obtaining great results. A model that we can follow.

Triodos is going fast at the moment. If we can help these type of banks to get a grip on the 'digital value' in neighborhoods/cities/highways, we would make serious progress on microfinancing digital social ventures.

Nice one, David – and interesting to note banks adapting their offerings in this way. Oh – and we have loads of Spanish collaborators + for everyone else there's Google translate ;^)
