Dreadful! Human, people aren't in center of thoughts! Mall, shopping and house are not a city. GDP isn't a system to calculate our well being! When are we happy? When is people life good? When do they live together well? So China will not the next world power.

shocking and quite alarming....makes me cringe at the environmental cost in terms of resource consumption and pollution at this scale. reminded me of the film, Manufactured Landscapes:

thanks for sharing this nightmarish warning. it really is about quality, not quantity or size.

Thanks for sharing Francois. Very interesting, yet scary. A lot of food for thought.

It reminded me some of the conversations about Singapore and vibrancy, and the tension between design(or maybe better to say engineering) and emergence of vibrancy: http://www.openideo.com/open/vibrant-cities/inspiration/singapore-vibrant-or-dying-/
It also relates to the question of the relationship between vibrancy and economic success: http://www.openideo.com/open/vibrant-cities/inspiration/take-a-step-back-/

thanks!
