Eating up Food in the Hood

Food in the Hood is a Detroit culinary adventure. We hit a different restaurant every time to enjoy the amazing diversity of foods that Detroit has to offer. It brings those who live outside the city downtown for a night of economic stimulus.
Food in the Hood started as an excuse for a few of my friends and I to get together for food and drinks. It started off as a fun little experiment in discovering the city we all love, but has since evolved into an 89 member community of people who live (in general) outside the city limits of Detroit and care about promoting and encouraging the food culture of Detroit. We've discovered countless amazing little joints like D'Mongos and rediscovered the catfish dinner at Baker's keyboard lounge. You always hear of economic developers in Detroit whining about people out in the 'burbs not wanting to make the trip to the city. We're trying in our small way to make that happen. 

FITH began as a fun thing to try with friends and ended up becoming at least a step towards getting more people back into the city, and hopefully they'll become stewards for telling others about how amazing Detroit really is.

Brilliant personal story from on the ground, Natalie! Would be interesting to explore how to build upon and scale this great idea in the upcoming Concepting phase.
