F.I.R.S.T Robotics invests students with valuable trade skills
The FIRST robotics program seeks to inspire students to pursue science and technology in school, but its also proving a valuable tools for at risk students to pursue high school graduation and beyond with marketable skills and passion for technologyThe FIRST Robotics program is an annual competition where high school teams compete to build working robots to accomplish complex tasks, competing on design and functionality with other teams across the nation. For Ypsilanti Michigan's Willow Run team, the program provides technical exploration, creativity, and interaction with engineering mentors, helping students awaken a passion for technical development and propelling many into engineering/design careers. At a school with an average 45% graduation rate each year, the FIRST program boasts a 100% graduation rate, with all of its students pursuing technical school or traditional college options.
