History + Art

Heighten and exploit any historic elements of the neighbourhood, get city preservation commissions involved. Add as many economic incentives as possible to lure and keep artists in the neighbourhood.
The quintessential example is SOHO in New York, but similar stories can be found all over the world; Downtown Mexico City, Puerto Madero in Buenos Aires Argentina, Brickworks in Toronto.
Any historic elements can be leveraged, not necessarily something out of the history books, but any meaningful historic value to the community as it's exemplified by buildings that have no other history but being old factories or districts.
