Living Machines in Polluted Rivers

Living Machines are floating gardens that consist of plants that clean and restore polluted waterways and sewage systems. They've been installed all over the world in a variety of places- from college buildings where they clean and recycle the water from toilets and sewage system, to places like the one pictured (on the Fu and Nan rivers in China) where they are restoring rivers that are overly polluted.  I love the powerful image of nature undoing the damage that we've done to our environment.  And the "machines" themselves are really beautiful- they become parks that people can enjoy and feel more connected to nature.  I think that's a real sign of vitality- building community and providing much needed clean water and natural resources.
