Making Abandoned Buildings Beautiful

Hate that boarded up up building next door to you? Paint the particle board that's been placed over the windows and doors. It makes the neighborhood property value increase. Future Blooms is a Cincinnati based initiative through the organization Keep Cincinnati Beautiful that paints the particle board that's used to shut up abandoned buildings with bright vibrant graphic window and door designs. The trompe l'oile windows make these abandoned buildings look welcoming. It's a tiny step that takes a few volunteers a couple of hours to complete but it's having a huge impact on the beauty of the city as well as the value of the properties in the area. When Future Blooms paints the blighted buildings, the property values of the surrounding buildings have been shown to increase. A great step in the right direction to restoring vibrancy to blighted neighborhoods.
