Most Artistic Cities in America

Art & culture are increasingly important components of urban redevelopment efforts everywhere. The Atlantic article takes a look at which metros have the largest concentration of artists relative to their population & some surprises are on the list. We typically see the main metropolian cities on the list like New York City, LA, Chicago, but cities such as Bedford, Jersey City and Boulder make the list. The Atlantic use a measure called a "location quotient," or LQ, which is basically a ratio that compares a region’s share of artists to the national share of artists. An LQ of one implies that its regional share equals the national average; less than one is less than the national average and greater than one is more than the national average.

This shows how it doesn't matter what size a city or town is. Developing art and culture are important to revitalizing communities and bringing people together.
