Projecting Life
Convergence of art & bike culture; Telling stories in public spaces, activating unused spaces, providing an accessible platform for artists to show their work to an expanded audience. Up on your bike, cycling across town rediscovering its beauty, throw in a film or two against old buildings, laneways or under the bridge; Joseph Norster of Projector Bike projects films & images through a projector and speakers built into his 3 wheeled bike in Melbourne. Rediscovering a city in an environmental way from a different perspective!I believe that vibrancy means getting out and about, feeling & seeing the city, not just the beauty of it but the good, bad & ugly and connecting with the people to see what can be improved together.
From living in Melbourne where the city really invites you to embrace its vibrancy through its inhabitants like Joseph and the space itself being very conducive, to living in Cairo now, one of the most densely populated capital cities in the world, buckling under the pressure of its inhabitants, post revolution has seen many positive changes; from cleaner streets to sidewalks painted in patriotic colours and symbols of peace and love but sustaining this is the tough part; how not to revert back to old habits and allow the spirit of the revolution to extend beyond Tahrir Square; looking forward to ideas and exploring the inspiration in OpenIdeo to see what can be applied to Cairo!
