Putting abandoned spaces to use: Building an Art Walk in Detroit

The Detroit Storefront Design Competition (DSDC) has invites local artists to turn unoccupied downtown storefronts into an artwalk to attract passersby and local tourism, creating foot traffic and interest in downtown.
Empty storefronts in Detroit are a stark reminder of vibrant spaces now abandoned and unused. The DSDC is filling unused window spaces with local art, with a simple goal of creating reactivating street activity, encouraging investment in prominent underutilized space, and create a place worth staying around for in Downtown Detroit.
