Rebranding cities. Recovering Cities Self-Esteem.

A big rebranding project that starts as an art action. It's just a simple idea, a task force, a big event, an independent experience, with one main objective, rebuild the self-image of an abandoned city or neighborhood.
"In a decaying society, art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social function, art must show the world as changeable. And help to change it."

— Ernst Fischer

A joint effort bringing volunteers from all over the country, sponsored by the private sector, who will provide all the necessary tools to clean, gardening, paint and start building a new social environment.

Using the available social resources to connect and mobilize a solidary and collective labor, a cooperative work between friends and neighbors to create a gigantic Installation project.  A huge experimental laboratory where the abandoned city is the blank canvas.

If we imagine that cities are like people, as a living entity, the way that the city reflects and mimics the human idiosyncrasy, why not treat them as a macroscopic version of a human and use all the available tools to recover a city's self-esteem?

Call to action:
Reviving cities through self-esteem.

Great thoughts, Rodny! We hope you'll be back to expand on these ideas in the upcoming Concpeting phase. Meanwhile – anyone got global examples of cities/regions/neighbourhoods which have flourished with rebranding? We're there must be some great ones!

Thanks Meena,
There is a lot of similar projects but I believe there is an important detail, would be interesting to explore a positive approach specifically in this project, and bring this positiveness to engage with the community and mobilize. Energizing and contaminating people to elevate the morale of deteriorated cities. That's really possible!
