Anne-Laure Fayard
"“Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense”"
I discovered OpenIDEO as I started working last fall on a research project on open innovation with one of my colleagues at NYU.
My research interests are:
- Organizational communication, including discourse analysis, discursive practices and technology-mediated communication.
-Socio-material practices, including the affordances of material artifacts and the influence of space.
- Cross-disciplinary collaboration, including design and art.
On top of the research project, I decided to start using OpenIDEO as the team project for the creativity class I'm teaching this fall. It's been a lot of fun and I have two "good reasons" (research and teaching) to spend time on OpenIDEO! :-)
Apart from this course on creativity (with a strong focus on design-led innovation), I teach the Organizational Behavior Core Course and used to teach a course entitled Coaching for leadership.
PS: the quote is from Churchill. One of my colleagues and friends at INSEAD sent it to me a long time ago and I printed it and kept it in my office. :-)

Definitely! A virtual incubator for students
Entrepreneurship is a difficult subject to teach as it has to balance practice and theory.
Providing a computer-based simulation that can be used in class will allow students to experience concepts and frameworks discussed in class.

Insight from a French entrepreneur
Using our interview kit, I asked a French entrepreneur his experience starting his business (mostly web-based). While it is a story full of pitfalls, it has a happy ending as the business is up and running.
