"PhD student at Stanford studying engineering, biomechanics, robotics, and design"

I am currently a PhD student at Stanford studying mechanical engineering, biomechanics, and design. I am a member of the Neuromuscular Biomechanics Lab where I am studying the dynamics and control of human running and helping to create and develop OpenSim, open-source software for biomechanical and robotic simulation.

I am also co-founder of the Pepper Eater project, an on-going project launched in Stanford's d.school and working in collaboration with Compatible Technology International. Our goal is to provide more efficient and safer tools to women who manually process chili peppers in Ethiopia, as current manual methods are labor-intensive and present long-term health hazards

MAKE Food

What if we could combine the hacker/DIY mentality that is associated with MAKE Magazine and the Maker movement and center that around food. Perhaps create a magazine or online presence that creates a culture where people want to know what's in their food, how it is grown, and how to cook it. There could be "projects" that focus on certain dishes or themes, and discuss sourcing local ingredients. In the Maker world, the mentality is, if you can't take it apart, you don't own it. For food makers, if you don't know where your food comes from, it's not your dish!
