I think the main thing for young kids is to get in contact with fresh food and vegetables. For older kids and teenagers its important to to learn about it and get further information about these things. And the most important thing: they have to see what this fresh food does to themselves? So I think you all know already tamagotchi or farmville on facebook. I think this principle could be usefull to learn more about fresh food and the benefit for yourselve.

Herbie the Hairy challenges kids to give it a full set of hair, using a fun planter pre-filled with compost, easy-to-grow herb seeds, & simple instructions/info for growing, cutting, & eating hair. Kids discover agriculture, cooking, nutrition, & new foods through play & the naturally encouraged adult interaction. The planter, which can be decorated as an art project, is made from repurposed items (yogurt cup, juice box, bottle, egg carton, can, etc.), ideally biodegradable for easy transplantation option.
